Success Story
One Mother. One Life. One Village Changed.
Fatima, a 26-year-old mother from Logar Province, had never seen a doctor during her first two pregnancies. Her village, nestled in a remote valley two hours from the nearest town, had no clinic, no midwife, and no way to get emergency help.
When ASHAO established a mobile maternity unit in Fatima’s district, everything changed. Her third pregnancy was monitored from start to finish. When complications arose during delivery, our trained midwife team acted quickly — and both mother and baby survived.
"I thought giving birth was just something you survived. Now I know it can be something you are supported through."
Today, Fatima volunteers as a community health educator in her village, helping other women access ASHAO’s services. Her story is one of thousands.
